Belfry Football Coach Haywood in Serious Condition Following Saturday Accident

Belfry Head Football Coach Philip Haywood remains in serious condition after a car crash on Saturday.

The Belfry Fire Chief and Pike County Emergency Management Director tells WYMT Haywood was driving when he hit a patch of black ice near Forest Hills and slid into a creek.

His daughter confirms on social media he has a head injury and punctured lungs.

Haywood has coached Belfry since 1984 and is the winningest high school football coach in KHSAA history, winning state eight times.
