AppalReD Legal Aid of Prestonsburg has been honored for their work in helping local victims embroiled in the Eric C. Conn Social Security fraud case. WYMT reports AppalReD Legal received the Nancy G. Shor Leadership Award at the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representative Conference last week. AppalReD is among several regional attorneys who had to unwind the scam that saw thousands of low-income Eastern Kentucky residents lose millions in social security benefits. Legal wranglings are still continuing. Conn is six years into a 27-year prison sentence.
