Appalshop has been awarded a $20,000 grant to give Jenkins a boost as recovery
continues from the July 2022 Flood.
The grant will go toward fixing some damaged sidewalks, creating a walking trail, installing benches and creating a mural in Jenkins.
Appalshop moved to Jenkins after the flood did major damage to its Whitesburg
building.
Appalshop’s communications director tells Mountain Top News the walking trail and benches will begin at a local senior center and go for about a mile into downtown.
The mural will be designed by nationally renowned local artist Lacy Hale.
