Appalachian Regional Healthcare and one of its cardiologists will be paying more than $3 million to settle civil allegations of submitting improper claims to Medicare and Kentucky Medicaid. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Dr. Padubidri Chandrashekar performed some diagnostic procedures and billed the state and federal government for them without any paperwork showing why they were necessary. They say he also
ordered unnecessary appointments and ambulance transfers for patients for the procedures.
