An alleged assault on first responders has led to charges for an elderly Prestonsburg man.
It happened on North Lake Drive where Prestonsburg firefighters responded to a car on fire.
Officials say 80-year-old Gary Beverly tried to drive through the scene and when asked to stop he allegedly drove toward a paramedic.
When a Prestonsburg Police Detective asked Beverly to leave the area he allegedly acted angrily, refused to leave, grabbed the detective and crashed into his car.
He faces several felony charges.
