Letcher County is reportedly still looking for a contractor to rebuild the Blackey Community Center which was heavily damaged in the July 2022 Flood.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has set aside $600,000 toward the project which
includes lifting it above the floodplain as well as doing a major remodel.
The Mountain Eagle reports the Letcher County Fiscal Court has twice now advertised for bids but has gotten only one which they say was significantly over budget but they were negotiating.
