Bond Reduction Denied in Deadly DUI Crash That Killed Two Floyd County High School Students

There is no break on the bond for a Nippa man who’s been jailed for eight months for an alleged DUI crash that killed two Prestonsburg High School students.

Investigators allege Marcus Logan Auxier was drunk when he crashed his car with five passengers in July 2023 and then left the scene.

Two of those passengers died:, 16-year-old Kendra Moreno and 13-year-old MaKenna Barnett.

Auxier’s bond was set at $100,000.

Mountain Top News reports his attorney told the judge Auxier had no way to pay that and asked it to be lowered to $2,500.

The judge said no, but then also said if Auxier’s trial ends up being delayed past March, he would reconsider.
