The Carcassonne Community Center is celebrating its 100th year this month with a big Centennial party this Friday and Saturday.
Founded as a boarding school it is now a community center and home to world famous square dancing.
The Centennial will start at 10am each day with a flag-raising by either the Letcher JROTC or Hazard National Guard followed by speeches, music and vendors.
CANE Kitchen will be serving free meals Friday while they last and on Saturday IGA Deli will cater lunch.
Friday night has a performance by the “Mama Said String Band” and Saturday will be the World Famous Square Dance with music by Sunrise Ridge and Will Bowling as the Caller.
