The City of Jenkins has been awarded a federal grant for $5.2 million for new water lines and a water storage tank for the Grand View high-ground subdivision.
The Mountain Eagle reports Grand View was one of several high-ground communities announced in 2023 in the wake of the devastating 2022 flood that triggered state and local governments to find ways to get people to move out of the most flood-prone areas.
Once it’s done, Grand View is expected to have about 300 homes.
