The Martin Fire Department is reportedly standing down from duty in a financial dispute with the mayor.
Representatives from the department tell WYMT they are holding a press conference tonight to address the public but in the meantime have handed over their calls and requested mutual aid from surrounding departments so there will still be emergency response if needed.
The Assistant Chief says they are unhappy with the funding and lack of attention from the mayor.
Among the issues, they say they have had repeated delays with getting fuel for their trucks, currently waiting since mid-December.
