With a focus on cleaning up the city to improve the tourism economy, the City of Whitesburg has created a three-person board to enforce the city’s blight ordinance. The Mountain Eagle reports the Nuisance, Blighted and Deteriorated Property Review Board will investigate omplaints about abandoned houses and buildings with health code violations, plus places with piles of trash. The board will meet with the owner to gather more information but then pass it along to the Whitesburg City Council which will determine how to clean it up and/or invoke punishment. You can read the full text of the ordinance in this week’s Mountain Eagle.
