Coroner Confirms Apparent Drowning of 11 Year Old Blackey Boy

Sad news as the Letcher County Coroner has confirmed that an 11-year-old boy from Blackey has died in an apparent drowning in the North Fork of the Kentucky River.

WYMT reports it happened around 3pm Tuesday.

The Coroner has confirmed his name as Curtis Halcomb.

There is no word yet on if anyone was present at the time of the apparent drowning, with officials saying only that he was pulled from the river and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy has been scheduled.
