Emergency response times are reportedly under the microscope following this summer’s shuttering of Letcher Emergency Medical Services.
The Mountain Eagle reports the Letcher County Fiscal Court has appointed a committee to look at local ambulance runs after complaints from citizens about alleged long response times.
Letcher EMS ceased operations in June due to money problems.
Officials with the Neon Volunteer Fire Department tell the paper they are doing their best to keep up but they are swamped and sometimes surrounding counties have to respond to calls in Letcher.
