Rates for Kentucky Power are going up a little bit next month thanks to a court decision
in favor of the company against the Kentucky Public Service Commission.
Mountain Top News reports the court agreed on an appeal that the PSC did not consider an increase in the company’s transmission expenses when Kentucky Power asked for a rate hike in 2023 and didn’t get it.
The ruling means that starting next month Kentucky Power can add about a half a cent per kilowatt-hour for the next two years.
In the meantime, Kentucky Power is in the process of asking the PSC for an actual rate hike of 15 percent for next year.
