Deadline Passes for Candidates to File in KY’s May Primary

The deadline for candidates who want to be on the ballot in May’s Kentucky primary has passed. Voters will decide in several local races. WYMT reporting in the 29th state Senate district, Former Knott County Judge-Executive Randy Thompson and Shawn Andrew Gilley of Letcher County have filed to oppose incumbent Johnnie Turner of Harlan County. One incumbent, 94th district representative Jacob Justice of Pike County says he won’t run again. Republican Mitch Whitaker will be on the ballot hoping to replace him. The primary is May 21st.
