The National Weather Service has concluded that the tornado that tore through Somerset and London on Saturday had a rating of EF 4.
It ran for more than 55 miles with maximum winds of 170 mph and at its largest was nearly a mile wide.
The National Weather Service office in Jackson says it was the deadliest tornado in their history.
The Governor’s office says there are 19 confirmed deaths including 17 in Laurel County, one in Pulaski County and one in Russell County.
There are eight people still hospitalized at the University of Kentucky Hospital with two of them listed in critical condition.
