A new Higher Ground community in Knott County has had an official dedication ceremony.
Chestnut Ridge is a 27-acre neighborhood designed for survivors of the July 2022 flood.
WYMT reports it was built on land donated by Western Pocahontas Properties and funded through nearly $6 million in private donations plus $500,000 in public funding.
When finished, it will have 56 new homes for families who had to leave theirs.
Officials say some folks will start moving in by August.
