The defense attorney for a Prestonsburg man accused of murder says he objects to any
more delays in the trial date after prosecutors filed a motion for an extension.
M.K. McKinney is currently set to go on trial December 1 for the death of Amber Spradlin in 2026.
Last month prosecutors said they need more time for the state crime lab to complete DNA testing of some of the evidence including blood and hair found at the scene which they say ensures a fair trial for both sides.
The defense says the delay violates the right to a speedy trial.
A hearing in the case was scheduled for today.
