The first Federal Emergency Management Agency homes have arrived at the site of Letcher County’s new high-ground community called the Cottages at Thompson Branch. The area at Marlowe just of KY 931 North is being developed as housing for those impacted by the July 2022 floods. The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet has posted pictures of the installation of two mobile homes which will be modified by HOMES Inc. of Whitesburg to be more permanent. Eight more houses will be built by HOMES Inc. with traditional carpentry. It’s all funded through a mix of FEMA, state grants, and land donations.
