The Fleming-Neon water system is nearly back to normal. Mayor Ricky Burke tells the Mountain Eagle with the supply wells filling back up with the recent snow they are now slowly reducing the flow they were getting from Jenkins and Letcher County. Fleming-Neon has been struggling with water issues for a few weeks with a state of emergency declared January 4. The city’s water supply comes not from the Boone Fork of the Kentucky River but rather from wells sunk into an old mine with the water then purified.
