A monument to those whose lives were lost in the July 2022 flood has been unveiled in Hazard.
A ceremony was held yesterday at Hazard City Hall for the memorial designed by Rachel Crawford and spearheaded by her mom Rhonda with money raised by Perry County Sheriff and Pastor Joe Engle.
Rachel’s brother Mick Crawford died at the age of 18 in the days after the flood after he got sick while volunteering to do cleanup.
The Hindman Monument Company did the hand-etching of the 45 names on the stone.
Officials tell WYMT they hope to add benches later, so you can sit and reflect.
