Work is set to start soon on repairs to the Fleming-Neon Public Library. The Mountain Eagle reports Lewis Brothers Inc. has signed a contract for the work to fix damage from the July 2022 Flood and to add features to mitigate any future such damage. On Monday a Lewis spokesman told the Library Board of Trustees they are looking at features such as specialized, impact- and flood-resistant glass and maybe extending the brick wall in front of the porch and using it as a floodwall. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is expected to pay for some of the mitigation features.
