A traffic stop for a suspended license has led to the arrest of two men for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in mining equipment.
Kentucky State Police say when a trooper on patrol in McDowell ran the registration on a pickup truck it came back as connected to a driver with a DUI suspended license.
But the driver didn’t pull over for about two miles.
When troopers searched the back of the truck, they saw high-voltage electrical breakers, distribution boxes, two large electric motors, and more.
The men, now identified as Malen Mitchell and Jason Stumbo, allegedly admitted they took the
gear from a mine in Martin County but thought since it was abandoned it was fair game.
