Floyd County Woman Accused of Killing Her Father Wants to Tell Her Story to Grand Jury

A Prestonsburg woman accused of killing her father wants the grand jury to hear her
story while they mull whether to indict her.

Summer Adkins was arrested in June for the death of Jimmy Harvey.

Last week she was released from home confinement because the grand jury had not indicted her within 60 days.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney called that only procedural and said the grand jury is still considering her case.

But Mountain Top News reports her attorney has filed notice that she wants to present evidence to the grand jury.

Adkins alleges Harvey had sexually abused her as a child and at the time of the shooting she had learned he was allegedly doing the same to a young relative.

Kentucky state law says the grand jury can hear her side of the story, but is not required
to.

There is a hearing scheduled in the case next week.
