Former Pike County Attorney Enters Alford Plea in Death of His Wife

Former assistant Pike County attorney Donald Deskins is expected to receive a five-year prison sentence when he’s sentenced next month, under a plea deal over the 2021 death of his wife, Judith.

The original case ended in a mistrial.

Under the agreement, Deskins will enter an Alford plea to one count of evidence tampering.

An Alford plea allows a defendant to maintain their innocence while acknowledging that the prosecution has enough evidence to likely convict.

An additional evidence tampering charge and the murder charge will be dismissed with prejudice, meaning they could be re-filed in the future.
