Former Pike County Attorney Indicted for Murder Reaches Plea Deal

A former assistant Pike County Attorney indicted for murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the death of his wife has reached a plea deal that could see him out on probation.

Donald Deskins was indicted in 2023 in connection with the 2021 death of his wife Judith.

His trial last July ended in a mistrial after the jury could not reach a unanimous verdict.

Last month Deskins agreed to an Alford plea which is when a defendant agrees there is enough evidence to be convicted but without explicit guilt.

In exchange for that plea for the evidence tampering, prosecutors dropped the murder
charge.

His attorneys say since he has been on home confinement since his arrest they feel he should be given probation.

There is a hearing on that scheduled later this week.
