Former Vicco-Sassafras Fire Chief Charlie Bell has passed away.
Born in Hazard, Bell lived in Sassafras and was with Vicco-Sassafras Volunteer Fire and Rescue for 50 years with 40 of those serving as chief.
He died on Saturday at the age of 76.
He was known for giving his all to the department and community and was also a member of
Vicco Masonic Lodge #929.
His funeral is today at Hindman Funeral Services Chapel.
