A former Whitesburg Middle School teacher has pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and possession of child abuse material. WYMT reports Brian Bailey of Benham was arraigned Wednesday. Bailey was indicted last month by a Letcher County Grand Jury for third-degree rape of a girl under 16 and having sexually explicit images of her. He had been teaching and driving a bus for Letcher County Public Schools last fall when the alleged incidents occurred from October to November. Letcher County Schools Superintendent Denise Yonts confirms he is no longer an employee of the district.
