Some Pike County legislators say the region made out pretty well in the General Assembly session that ended April 15. State Senator Phillip Wheeler tells the Appalachian News Express if Senate Bill 280 is approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services then local rural medical centers would get the same Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement as university hospitals. And he says Pike and Johnson Counties ended up with more than $100 million in road project funding over the next two years. And Wheeler there was also an increase in the Support Education Excellence in Kentucky or SEEK funding for public schools and transportation funding for schools.
