Gov. Beshear Announces $118 Million for Home Buyouts in Flood Prone Areas

More buyouts for those on flood-prone land are possible with Governor Andy Beshear
announcing Wednesday that the state is sending over $118 million to several counties
to buy out properties from willing Eastern Kentuckians.

More than 600 homeowners in Letcher, Floyd, Knott, Perry and Pike counties are eligible from the floods that occurred earlier this year.

Of the $118 million, $106 million is federal funding from the Emergency Watershed Protection Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
