Governor Andy Beshear has presented another $30 million in grants to Letcher County
as work continues to build more higher-ground homes to get people out of the flood
zones.
The Governor was recently in Jenkins visiting the site of the future Grand View Subdivision.
The Mountain Eagle reports the grants include $15 million for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to build a road from US 23 to the Grand View site, $5.5 million to extend water and sewer service there, about $4 million to build houses in Thornton, and $4.5 million to convert the old Fleming-Neon High School into an apartment building.
