Grand Jury to Hear Case of KSP Standoff with Elkhorn City Man

A grand jury will hear the case of a Pike County man arrested last week for allegedly
breaking into a home in Elkhorn City and attempting to shoot some family members
which then led to an armed standoff with Kentucky State Police.

George Standifur had a court appearance Thursday at which the judge ruled there was probable cause for the case to go to a grand jury.

A Trooper testifying at the hearing said victims claimed Standifur had pulled the trigger a few times with the gun pointed at them but for some reason the gun didn’t fire.

Troopers alleged he threatened their lives during the standoff.
