Work has begun on the University of Pikeville’s new Tanner College of Dental Medicine.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week for the new school which officials say they plan to open by June 2026.
University of Pikeville President Burton Webb thanked the Tanner Family for their $25 million donation to make the dental school a reality.
The Appalachian News Express reports the Tanners challenged the university to raise
another $10 million for the project.
Officials say that has been accomplished and includes $3 million from insurance company Delta Dental of Kentucky.
