Congressman Hal Rogers has announced $3 million in Community Project Funding in the recent federal budget agreement has been earmarked for the Housing Development Alliance to build new affordable homes in Eastern Kentucky for survivors of the July 2022 flood. HDA, which is based in Hazard, will build homes to be sold at appraised value and financed for home buyers through forgivable grants and loans. Rogers’ office says he also secured $500,000 for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct a flood mitigation study spanning the entire Kentucky River and its watershed which is a source of persistent flooding in Eastern Kentucky.
