A Closplint man is in custody after a police standoff in which he allegedly fired shots at
officers.
The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office says Stacy Huff was arrested after Sheriff’s deputies and Evarts Police officers responded to his home late Saturday night for an apparent domestic issue in which he was allegedly holding his family at knifepoint.
The Sheriff alleges Huff fired off shots at a deputy and the Evarts Assistant Police Chief but
they were not hurt.
Around 1230am Huff surrendered. He is so far charged with assault 4th degree and attempted murder of a first responder.
There are no reports of any of the family members being hurt, with the Sheriff saying they were leaving as officers arrived.
