The Harlan County Sheriff’s Office is getting a bunch of new gear thanks to some grants
and donations.
The Sheriff’s Office says a $35,000 grant from the Spirit of Blue Foundation will go toward purchasing patrol rifles, optics and accessories along with tourniquets.
And they say the Office of Attorney General Russell Coleman awarded Sheriff Chris Brewer several grants to update ballistic vests, and add two ballistic shields, ballistic helmets and level 4 rifle plates.
In addition, Kentucky State Police have donated surplus tasers to replace the department’s outdated tasers.
