Harlan County is going to honor the late Senator Johnnie L. Turner with a section of highway to be named for him.
WYMT reports the Harlan County Fiscal Court has presented members of Turner’s family with a version of the highway sign that will go along East Highway 221 in Bledsoe near the Pine Mountain Settlement School.
Turner passed away in October 2024 following an accident at his home.
Turner served in the state House from 1999 to 2002 and was elected to the state Senate in 2021.
