Hazard Community and Technical College has gotten a $1.25 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to buy some new gear for their heavy equipment program.
Reportedly the only college in Kentucky with a heavy equipment program, HCTC President Dr. Jennifer Lindon says through a partnership with Caterpillar, they have received multiple heavy equipment machines thanks to the grant.
Students can earn a certification for each machine through the two-year program and then can also
receive hands-on experience through a partnership with Abandoned Mine Lands
