Hazard, Johnson Central and North Laurel Advance to Boys Sweet 16

The Hazard Bulldogs are the boys 14th region basketball tournament champions. 

Monday night first year coach Casey Huff and Hazard beat Powell County 64-57 in the region title game at the Woods Coliseum in Jackson at Breathitt County High School.  

Hazard wins their first region title since 2020 and will advance to next week’s KHSAA boys Sweet 16 State Tournament at Rupp Arena.

They will take on either Louisville Butler or Jeffersontown from Region 6 next Thursday March 19th at 11:00am.

The Johnson Central Golden Eagles are the 15th Region Tournament champion beating Pikeville Monday night 81-68.  

The North Laurel Jaguars are the 13th Region Tournament winner as they knocked off Bell County 51-38 in the title game Monday night. 

So Hazard, Johnson Central and North Laurel will represent the mountains in the Boys Sweet 16 State Tournament next week.
