Hazard, Johnson Central Fall in Sweet 16; Quarterfinals Set for Friday

The boys Sweet 16 State Tournament continued Thursday at Rupp Arena with four more opening round games including two more mountain teams in action. 

The Hazard Bulldogs fought hard but lost to Louisville Butler 54-39 in the first game of the day.

Congratulations to Coach Casey Huff and the 14th Region champion Bulldogs on a great season.  

15th Region champion Johnson Central battled with George Rogers Clark in the final game of the day but lost 75-60.

It was also a great season for the Golden Eagles and coach Tommy McKenzie.

The other two games on Thursday had Marshall County getting by Boyd County 68-64 and North Oldham beating Lyon County 74-61.

Today, Friday, will be the Sweet 16 quarterfinals with Saint X facing North Laurel at 11:00am followed by Grayson County taking on Great Crossing at 1:30pm.

Tonight’s two games will be Butler playing North Oldham at 6:00pm and George Rogers Clark facing Marshall County at 8:30pm.

The semifinals will be on Saturday morning with the championship game on Saturday night at Rupp Arena.
