Hearing Was Held Thursday on Decision to Delay Amber Spradlin Murder Trial

We could know in a few days whether the trial will be delayed for the Prestonsburg man
accused of murdering Amber Spradlin in 2023.

M.K. McKinney is currently set to go on trial for murder on December 1 but prosecutors said they need more time for the state crime lab to complete DNA testing of some blood and hair evidence from the scene.

The defense says the delay violates the right to a speedy trial.

The Floyd County Chronicle reported at a hearing Thursday, the judge said he will rule in the next few days.

He will also decide whether to reduce McKinney’s $5 million bond.
