High Speed Internet Expands in Harlan County

High-speed internet is going to expand into more parts of rural Harlan County.

The Harlan County Fiscal Court has reportedly signed a deal with Eastern Kentucky Company Thacker-Grigsby Communications to bring reliable high-speed internet to some rural communities.

The Judge-Executive tells WYMT more than 300 homes and 92 businesses are on tap for the hookup along with the areas Big Laurel, Bledsoe, Pine Mountain, and Straight Creek.

It’s being paid for primarily by a $1.9 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission along with some local and state money.
