A Jenkins Independent School District teacher has been honored for her four decades of service following her recent retirement.
At their meeting this month the Board of Education honored math teacher Faye Collier who has decided to step away after 46 years in the classroom.
The Mountain Eagle reports Superintendent Damian Johnson called Collier an inspiration to countless students, most recently serving as a high school math and college dual-credit teacher.
He said her commitment not only prepared students for academic success but instilled in them a lifelong love of learning.
