Knott County Man Indicted on Federal Drug Charges

A man is facing a federal indictment following incidents where he is accused of distributing drugs in multiple Eastern Kentucky counties.

Dennis Arnold Lyons was charged with two counts of distributing methamphetamine, one count of distributing a mixture of methamphetamine and fentanyl, one count of distributing a mixture of methamphetamine and heroin, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possessing a firearm in connection with drug trafficking.

Lyons is accused of distributing methamphetamine in Knott County and distributing methamphetamine mixed with fentanyl in Powell County. According to court documents, both incidents happened in November.

Court documents say Lyons knowingly and intentionally had possession of 500 grams or more of a mixture containing meth, and 100 grams or more of a substance containing heroin in Perry County on December 13. During that time, police also reported that Lyons was in possession of two handguns.

Lyons could face a possible life sentence if he is convicted. He is set to appear in federal court in Pikeville on January 24 at 11:30 a.m.
