KSP Wraps Up Four Year Cockfighting Investigation in Letcher and Pike Counties

Kentucky State Police have ended their nearly four-year-long case involving cockfighting in Letcher and Pike Counties with the final defendants pleading guilty.

WYMT reports in all, the investigations into the Blackberry and Whitesburg Chicken Pits
which started with a confidential informant and detectives doing surveillance in April
2021 has ended with federal indictments against seven people.

For the Blackberry Pit, Timothy Sizemore was sentenced to 26 months in prison and Perry Hatfield to eight months home incarceration.

For Whitesburg, Robert Dewayne Baker, Virgil Saylor, Tina Miller, Brandon Honeycutt and Chris Prater are still awaiting sentencing.

Another man connected to the Whitesburg Pit was also indicted but passed away last year.
