Eleven write-in candidates have officially filed paperwork for the 29th District Senate seat.
The seat became open after the death last week of incumbent Johnnie L. Turner. Turner was running for re-election. His general election opponent had dropped out of the race earlier, so he was running unopposed.
The eleven write in candidates are:
– James Tyler Ward, Whitesburg
– Willie Crase, Prestonsburg
– Scott Madon, Pineville
– Paul Williams, Prestonsburg
– Leonard Hendrickson, Pine Top
– Tanner Hesterberg, Prestonsburg
– Justin Wade Noble, Emmalena
– Valerie Ison Horn, Whitesburg
– Craig Blackburn, Prestonsburg
– John Clem, Cranks
– Andrew Thomas Saylor, Wallins Creek
The deadline to file as a write-in candidate was 4 p.m. on Friday.
Turner and his opponent who dropped out, David Suhr, will both have their names on the ballot but a vote for either will not count.
To vote for any of the candidates above, you must push the write in button and write their name on the ballot.
Election Day is Tuesday November 5th.
