PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Feb. 19, 2025) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 continues to address challenging weather conditions, as crews work to manage both snow and ice operations alongside flood cleanup efforts.
Overnight snowfall, coupled with ongoing precipitation, has impacted travel across our seven counties. Our dedicated teams have been operating around the clock, focusing primarily on Priority A routes to ensure the most heavily trafficked roads remain passable. As of nightfall, A and B routes were reported partially clear but many C routes remain covered with snow.
Recent flooding has rendered some roads impassable or reduced to a single lane. These conditions have lead to detours and, in some cases, required crews to double back to access certain locations, leading to adjusted plowing schedules. We are continuously monitoring and assessing all routes to address these challenges efficiently.
With temperatures forecasted to drop further tomorrow, motorists should anticipate slippery conditions during the morning commute. We strongly encourage drivers to limit travel when possible, especially in flooded areas or where road conditions are less than ideal. If travel is necessary, please use caution, allow ample space for snowplows and emergency vehicles to operate, and adhere to all posted warning signs.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this demanding time.
