If your car registration is coming up for renewal and you have specialty plates, heads up: the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet wants to change when drivers with specialty plates pay their taxes and renewal fees.
KYTC reportedly sent out an email last week to County Clerks saying they want to change the renewal from December to a driver’s birth month.
They say it gets way too busy in December which can lead to delays and they want to spread out the workload across the year.
Local officials say the way the email was worded makes it seem optional for now but likely mandatory within a few years.
