Letcher County Attorney Jamie Hatton has announced that he will not seek reelection in 2026.
Hatton said in a statement that after careful consideration he wants to devote more time to his family and to his private practice as an attorney.
He endorsed his assistant Michael Watts to be his successor.
Hatton has served as Letcher County Attorney since 2010.
He was recognized for leading the Letcher County Child Support Enforcement Office and helping advise the Fiscal Court through the 2022 floods.
