The Letcher County Fiscal Court is taking steps toward making the rules for allowing alcohol sales in the county after voters approved it in November.
Last week the Fiscal Court had the first reading of an ordinance and is on track to issue licenses starting in early spring.
The Mountain Eagle reports the current version of the ordinance lists 15 different types of licenses ranging from $50 for one type of malt beverage to up to $3,000 a year for a wholesaler, plus certain state fees.
And this is just for county-based businesses – the cities of Whitesburg, Jenkins, and Fleming-Neon have their own rules.
